"NO THEME"
For our first year we didn't do a half bad job! Upon returning from an inspiring trip to Salem the night before Halloween, Matt called up a couple of friends, made some tombstones, and arranged some simple store bought props. Halloween night, the small cast threw on costumes, rustled up a smoke machine, turned on some scary music, and waited for the trick or treaters to come. With no advertising, the night started slow, people didn't quite know what to make of it. Kids excitedly ran up to the house to see what was going on, but the cast didn't have its act perfected yet (or the Executioner just enjoyed tormenting the children!)...and most young kids just fled away in terror. As the night progressed however, lots of older kids came into the 1 room setup and had some fun. Word of mouth around the neighborhood spread, and by the end of the night approximately 150-200 kids stopped by. The highlight of the night was when the cast realized that in the front yard, an adult neighbor (to this day who remains unknown), had dressed up as Freddy Kreuger and joined in the cause. Matt saw the potential...and lets just say...the rest is history!
